ICL (Indian cricket league) is the rival league against the BCCI (board of cricket control in India). The league is just the outcome of the misunderstanding between BCCI & the zee network during contract for the national telecast rights for the year (2006). Zee TV has bided for the sum of Rs.300 hundred crores but the BCCI has offered the rights to Nimbus, who bided for Rs.350 crores. Then out of agony the CEO of zee network has invested Rs.100 crores for developing the league in completion against BCCI. But they did so in the name of improving cricket in India. Zee network has taken the railway's ground in Ahmedabad for lease , as rest of the grounds in India was under the control of BCCI. In the inaugural ICL there were 8 teams and their biggest bid was none other than the greatest left hander of all time Brian Charles Lara. Rather unfortunately he couldn’t continue play second season to go with the poor first season. But with more innovations and with whole bunch of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis playing for ICL, it is getting more interesting. Though IPL stole the limelight but ICL is giving tough run for the money let’s see how it goes?
